Understand the pattern

Bound captured output by relevant scope, not by silently discarding inconvenient evidence. A short recent log window is useful when its limits are recorded in the note.

Interpret the evidence

Label the capture as the last 20 gateway events rather than the complete history.

A tempting mistake

Claim the short excerpt proves there were no earlier errors.

All names, measurements, prices, versions, and thresholds in this exercise are fictional training data. The evidence supports this bounded scenario, not a claim about a live provider.

Worked example and expected result
$ cat /opt/ai-lab/cases/aiops-cli-workspace-008.json
{
  "fixture": "Fictional training data; not a live measurement.",
  "total_events": 2400,
  "captured_events": 20,
  "scope": "last 20 gateway events"
}

Exit status: 0. The command completed successfully in the training fixture.

$ jq .scope /opt/ai-lab/cases/aiops-cli-workspace-008.json
"last 20 gateway events"

Exit status: 0. The command completed successfully in the training fixture.

$ printf '%s\n' 'label-capture-window' > /home/learner/lab/aiops-cli-workspace-008-decision.txt
(no output; exit 0)

Exit status: 0. The command completed successfully in the training fixture.

Try a variation

Name the assumption that would have to change for “label-capture-window” to stop being the justified action. Do not silently replace missing evidence with a guess.

Explain it

What does the evidence in “Capture bounded command output” justify?

Apply it elsewhere

A colleague concludes: “Claim the short excerpt proves there were no earlier errors.” What should you do?

Keep the momentum.

Complete the lab, then explain and apply the pattern.

  2. 02Build an evidence directoryAn evidence directory should group related observations and leave source artifacts unchanged. A directory name can carry a case ID while each file names one type of evidence.Practice
